Indiana

“You have got to get rid of Stephen. That man thinks he’s pit crew chief, and we had more than one run-in today. I wanted to punch him in the face,” Logan growls as we enter the lobby of the hotel.

Scanning the room, I find Heidi and Tristan waiting for us, looking at a suit of armour. “It won’t fit you,” I say, sneaking up behind Tristan, causing him to jump.

He spins around, wrapping his arms around me, squeezing me tightly. “I missed you, kid.”

He pulls back and lets me go so I can hug Heidi.

I watch intensely as Tristan holds out his hand to Logan. “You must be Logan. I’m Tristan, Indiana’s older brother.”

“It’s good to meet you. Indiana has told me all about you,” Logan says, shaking his hand.

“Don’t believe any of it.” Tristan chuckles then turns to me. “He’s better looking than you said, kid.”

I flush bright red as Logan looks at me with a cocky grin. “Kid?”

Tristan slaps him on the back. “Everyone calls her that, including Beckett and Colton.”

“Really? You never told me that,” Logan says.

“I hate it,” I reply.

Logan laughs and leans down, whispering in my ear. “Personally, I love calling you other things.”

“Shall we go eat? I know we are starving,” Tristan says.

We make our way into the dining room and bar. Taking our seats at a table of our choosing, we look over the menu and order a bottle of wine for the table. Logan slides his hand onto my thigh. I grip it in mine. He gently squeezes as a reassurance that our night will go well.

“So, Logan, tell me a little more about yourself,” Tristan asks.

“I’m American, from Kentucky. Close to my parents and sisters. I’ve been a pit crew chief for ten years now, and I love motorbikes. I wasn’t expecting to meet Indiana, but I’m sure glad I have. She’s a great woman. She’s determined, driven, sweet, caring and sex—”

Tristan laughs, holding his hands up, interrupting me. “I don’t want to hear the last part. That’s between you two. I just want to know you’re going to take care of her.”

“I’ll take care of her,” Logan assures him.

“Good. That’s all I want for her.” Tristan flicks his gaze to me. “Your turn, Sis. Tell me, what’s going on with these races? You’re slipping back. Are you okay?”

“I’m alright. I’m just letting silly old habits slip back into my routine. I haven’t been reading the notebook Logan made for me to refresh my mind. I guess I thought I could remember everything he said. I promise Britain will be better.”

“You two were arguing about someone. Some guy named Stephen?” Heidi chimes in.

“Stephen is still around? I don’t know why you kept him on,” Tristan grumbles, pouring Heidi and I a glass of wine as the waiter brings over a beer for him and Logan.

“You don’t like him?” Logan asks, picking up his beer and taking a sip.

Tristan swallows from his bottle. “Can’t stand him. Smarmy man if I ever met one.
